About Us#
Wattle Education creates resources for Stage 6 Software Engineering in New South Wales. Our online book brings together explanations, worked examples, interactive demonstrations and practice activities to help students develop their understanding of software engineering.
Our authors, Stephen Tierney and Alison Wong, teach Business Analytics at the University of Sydney. They received a joint Citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning in the 2025 Australian Awards for University Teaching for their work on learning resources and programming education.
Authors#
Stephen Tierney is a Senior Lecturer in Business Analytics at the University of Sydney Business School. He teaches statistics, data science and machine learning. His teaching and educational research focus on active learning in STEM and on helping students build practical technical skills.
Alison Wong is a Senior Lecturer in Business Analytics at the University of Sydney Business School, specialising in data science and machine learning. She holds a PhD in computational astrophysics and an honorary role in the School of Physics. She is also a co-founder of Wattle Education and Chief Academic Officer of Tech Inclusion.
